Single Drawn vs Double Drawn Hair Explained

What single drawn and double drawn human hair mean, how they look different and why double drawn costs more.

Updated 5 November 2026

When hair is collected it contains strands of many lengths. How those shorter strands are treated decides whether hair is single drawn or double drawn.

Single drawn

The shortest strands are removed but a natural mix of lengths remains, so the hair is fullest at the top and tapers towards the ends, like your own hair. It blends naturally and costs less.

Double drawn

The shorter strands are removed again, so most strands reach the full length. The hair is as thick at the ends as at the top, giving a blunt, full look. Because more hair is needed for the same weight, double drawn costs more.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose single drawn for a natural taper, especially at shorter lengths.
  • Choose double drawn for full, blunt ends, especially at 20 inches and longer, where single drawn ends can look thin.
